We are all well under way with the New Year and as we move into mid January you have to wonder, where did 2011 go?

Well 2012 will fly by just as quick, I am sure. So it is important to make sure that any plans you have for the year are written down. Now, if you haven’t made any plans, perhaps its time to spend a couple of hours, at least, thinking through what you are wanting to achieve in the year, then get them written down. This obviously doesn’t need to be set in stone, however it will give you some focus and direction in the coming months.

Some new year resolutions will include ‘GETTING A NEW JOB!” A very popular idea at the start of the year. What needs to be remembered though, is a New Job should be more than a Job. It should be the next step on the career ladder, the seizing of an opportunity you’ve been wanting to pursue, a new challenge or indeed, cutting back the hours spent outside of the office, working!!! Start thinking through what you want to be doing, then look for that job, rather than looking at jobs and thinking which ones you can do…

You will find applications easier to fill out for these jobs, interviews more plentiful and easier to excel in and the decision to take the job, well that will have been made way before they offer you it!

Crowns will obviously be pushing new ideas and developing closer links with more practices and business in the New Year. If you are looking for a New Job or looking to fill a vacancy, get in touch.

Recently been updating the computer systems in the office and trying to create a fully cloud based system, so that I can work from a variety of locations without missing an email, loosing a document or struggling to do an activity because i don’t have all the data I need at hand.

Lets be honest, things are pretty well established, perhaps I am just keen to re new what is already in play.

2012 Resolutions.

Achieved 60% of 2011, so lets see how 2012 goes.

1. Its learn the Blummin Guitar…..

2. Get Fit and compete in a challenge.

3. Turn Crowns into a multi industry recruitment industry, take on perm staff and get the supplies side established.

4. Buy the house.

5. Take 6 Weeks holiday and monitor that you do. (No point being self employed and working every hour God sends!!!)

Resolutions of 2011 – 60% conversion

So 2011, came and went….. Resolutions weren’t too bad… although not all were fulfilled.. But some weren’t.

Below was 2011′s resolutions with their outcomes.

1. Read More…. much more - I’ve found I really enjoy informative books and started with A Short History.. by Billy Bryson and even went on to read about Auschwitz, very hard reading but amazing. Towards the end of the year bought a Kindle and love loosing myself in it. Reading isn’t quite a passion but I do really enjoy it. Glad I made this happen.

2. Learn how to play the guitar. – Sadly never happened…. 2012 Definitely.

3. Eat more healthily. – Started eating a least one vegetarian dish per week and wow, vegy isn’t all that bad. Some great dishes, a couple of disasters, but vegetable are soooo much cheaper than meat, it doesn’t matter when it does go wrong. Also started to take pack ups to work, this saves a fortune. A couple of things though. I don’t feel any healthier… but this isn’t to say it isn’t doing me good.

4. Develop Crowns into the major supplier of Nurses across the North. (York, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle and Lancaster.) – Cant say we broke into new areas… but yeah think its safe to say we are the top supplier now of Locums nurses in West Yorkshire…. very happy.

5. A challenge!!! – Didn’t really set any, but keeping things moving forward with a broken leg, was a challenge, but no didn’t really set or achieve a proper challenge.

Critics, Advocates and Opinions!

A critic is only an opinion. Without opinion we wouldn’t need achieve anything new or exciting.

Treat critics as importantly as advocates.

However remember that you should disregard both without consideration when you feel the need to do so. Ultimately you are the best critic, best advocate and whose opinion that really matters.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved with Crowns over the past 12 months and beyond.

I really appreciated the hard work everyone has put in, the last minute cover, the long commutes, the new ideas, the enthusiasm, the funny stories (there have been quite a few) and the willingness for people to go above and beyond what was asked.

Our clients have also been awesome. Referrals have been, by far, our largest source of New Business and while we work hard to deliver the service practices have come to expect, it is only through the willingness to share our name with others that we grow. So thank you.

Can’t wait for 2012, looking forward to the opportunities, the challenges, getting to work with new and old faces and growing Crowns. These are very exciting times.

First things first though, Christmas and New Years Eve are nearly here and should be enjoyed.

So make sure you eat too much, drink too much, do too little and dance, whenever the opportunities requires it… and on occasions when it doesn’t.

Imagine, if you will

Always being on call and as such always available.

That’s 24 hours and day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year.

Crazy.

However, your always accountable 24/7/365.

Something goes wrong with what your working on, even out side of office hours, it still remains your problem.

Maybe worth considering that. Yes 24 hour a day working is fruitless and even dangerous.

But underestimate your accountability and that can do your career, business, finances an awful lot of harm as well!
